Parts of San Diego County quarantined

Asian citrus psyllid Over 1,180 square miles in southern San Diego County have been quarantined to prevent the spread of the Asian citrus psyllid insects, which have the potential of destroying the California citrus industry. No citrus trees or bushes are allowed out of the area and all harvested fruit has to be commercially cleaned before shipment. ~ link

The Asian citrus psyllid carries and transmits a bacterial disease known as "Citrus greening" (or “Huanglongbing”). Greening causes malformed and bitter fruit. ~ link
